Archaelogical summer fieldwork in Italy

ARCHAEOLOGICAL SUMMER FIELDWORK CAMPAIGN IN ITALY

Are you interested in improving your Italian speaking skills and learning about Archaeology hands-on, both at the same time???
Then the Archaeological Summer Fieldwork Campaign organized in Bibbiena (Arezzo Province), Tuscany, is what you are looking for!!!

Archeodomani society, in collaboration with Tuscany Regional Authority for Archaeological Heritage Preservation (Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici della Toscana) and Bibbiena Town Authorities, organizes an archaeological fieldwork campaign in the Bibbiena municipality during the Summer of 2009.

The focus of the fieldwork activities will be the thermal complex of the Roman villa located near the village of Domo.

The fieldwork, now in its second year of activity, is equally open to students of Archaeology and Heritage Preservation disciplines, who wish to practice their skills, and to Archaeology enthusiasts, of any age, who have a desire to participate in and learn from all the activities of an archaeological excavation.

There is no prerequisite for the participation in the campaign, a part from the necessity of a base fluency in Italian.

The fieldwork activities will be directed and supervised by professional archaeologists who will guarantee that the appropriate scientific methodologies of archaeological excavation will be respected throughout the activities.

The area of excavation will be open to tourists during the fieldwork activity and they will be able to observe the "archaeologists at work".

The campaign period is divided into two turns, of two weeks each (1st turn from July 19 to August 1, 2nd turn from August 2 to August 16).
The excavation activity will be carried out from Monday to Friday and it will be integrated with other activities, such as findings cataloging, digital archiving, lectures and laboratory experiences. Saturdays and Sundays will be free of pre-organized activities.

The cost for participating is 420.00 € for each turn or 240.00 € for one half-turn (one week). The costs include all taxes and full coverage for accommodation and food.
